Over the last year and a half, the coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the importance of the development of pharmaceuticals to fight against and treat diseases.
Here at Chell Instruments, we’re proud to provide equipment and expertise to ensure the integrity of many of the processes needed for the development and manufacture of various drugs.
The accurate control and measurement of gases is a critical element in the manufacturing of many pharmaceuticals, including vaccines.
For example, nitrogen gas is widely used in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing to create a dry and inert atmosphere around ingredients or products. It helps maintain sterility and cleanliness and protects substances susceptible to unwanted interaction with oxygen.
Many gases are also used directly as ingredients in manufacturing or as catalysts within complex chemical processes.
At Chell Instruments, we produce instrumentation which ensures accuracy and control throughout.
For example, our state-of-the-art CalCube was developed as a calibration system used to verify vacuum instrumentation within many industries, including freeze dryer vacuum instrumentation used in pharmaceutical production.
“The development of pharmaceuticals, including both therapeutics and vaccines, has never been more important than right now” says our Sales Director, Jamie Shanahan.
“Accuracy is of critical importance when making life-changing medication. Our instrumentation is relied upon in pharmaceutical factories around the world to help ensure the integrity of gas flow and vacuum systems.”
Shortly before the global pandemic, Jamie travelled to a Swedish pharmaceutical company to help their technical and engineering staff utilise the CalCube to calibrate their operations in real time.
The Scandinavian firm uses the CalCube to maintain the performance of their vacuum instrumentation, avoiding costly downtime and taking just hours instead of the weeks typically involved with removing and sending out instrumentation for calibration.
The CalCube is just one of the wide range of pressure, vacuum and gas flow measurement and control solutions which we deliver direct to clients. As well as pharmaceuticals, our high-precision instrumentation has been widely used in industries including energy, motorsport and aerospace for more than 40 years.
With the development of vaccines and therapeutics to fight the global pandemic, pharmaceuticals have rightly been placed in the public spotlight for their critical role in protecting us all. We’re proud to play our part in ensuring accuracy and control.
